Platinum +4 unique firing technology combines the advantages of surface air gap technology and 4 yttrium enhanced ground electrodes. The fine wire platinum center electrode (which is heat fused into the extended ceramic insulator) reduces the voltage necessary to jump the gap as well as reduces quenching. The 4 ground electrode design not only provides multiple radial spark paths but also the surface air gap design creates optimal exposure of the air/fuel mixture to the enhanced ignition spark.
